Sharing The Meaning Of Hanukkah

December 18, 2020

We helped our residents celebrate Hanukkah by offering gold/chocolate coins on the eighth day of the Festival of Lights. The coins are known as gelt and this custom goes back to the 17th century. Originally, the coins were given to workers and teachers as a yearly tip. The giving evolved over time into gifts for children and now remind everyone of tradition, ritual and gratitude.
