The elder generation did not grow up with computers and personal information devices. And many may comment that society is addicted to them. However, they are not averse to them, especially when they have a great reason to use them...like meeting a new grand baby for the first time. During the Covid-19 health crisis, we have set up many video calls. When a resident sees the smiling face of a loved one on a video screen, they are all in.
I suggest you start with one specific purpose for introducing a new communication technology, such as video calling. Give the person in your care time to become comfortable with that. Then add another family-oriented feature they can benefit from: texts, attaching photos to e-mails, Facebook following and posting.
